Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, Madar is the first part of Aljada to be completed

  • Focal point of Sharjah’s megaproject Aljada to open on 27 February
  • Attractions include food district, children’s play zone, skatepark and Discovery Centre

Arada has announced the official opening date of Madar, an exciting new family-focused entertainment complex that is located in the heart of Aljada, the 24 million square foot mega-community currently under construction in Sharjah. The first phase of Madar, which is spread over a 600,000 square foot area, will be unveiled on Thursday, 27 February, giving the public an opportunity to see what life in Sharjah’s largest lifestyle destination will be like when finished.

Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, Madar contains a cluster of zones and attractions all set in a beautifully landscaped area that includes more than 5,000 trees and parking for 800 cars. It is also the first part of Aljada to be completed.

Attractions at Madar include food district, children’s play zone, skatepark and Discovery Centre

Among the attractions on offer in the inaugural phase of Madar will be a food district featuring 18 different types of cuisine, a children’s play area, a skatepark, an amphitheatre, indoor and outdoor events spaces and the centerpiece of the complex, the beautifully designed Aljada Discovery Centre. As well as the public launch, Madar will also feature a packed calendar of festivals, events and activities that will keep families coming back time and again. The full list of attractions and events on offer at Madar will be released shortly.

HE Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Arada, said: “It has been our aim from the start to create communities that inspire and engage their residents and visitors. We are excited to see that vision come to life with the launch of Madar, a new home for entertainment and culture in Sharjah, a place that is already known the world over for its outstanding contribution to heritage and the arts.

“We look forward to welcoming members of the public to a destination that encourages creativity and adventure, where visitors of all ages can learn, relax and explore, all within a beautifully designed space.”

Planned over three phases, Madar will be over 25 football fields in size (1.9 million square feet) when fully completed and is the focal point of Aljada. The Madar master plan is defined by lush green space and many water features, and is designed to be fully walkable, even in the summer months.

A new leisure and entertainment district for the UAE, Madar also cements Aljada’s role as a transformational project for Sharjah. Located in the fast growing and strategically located Muwaileh district, Aljada was unveiled by HH Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, during an exclusive ceremony in September 2017. Construction work on Aljada began in April 2018, and the first homes will be handed over later this year.

Aljada is ideally situated on the last major plot of undeveloped land in the heart of the city, and is an all-encompassing district that comprises considerable retail, leisure and entertainment options, in addition to a wide range of residential and commercial offerings.
